Seattle Mission Trip

From June 27-July 2 a group of us from Columbia Ridge are heading north to Seattle for 5 days on an urban mission trip. Kirsten and I are so excited to be taking our first extended service trip with our church family here!

We will be serving through an organization called Experience Missions. They will put us up in a church for the week and send us out each day to the area where we will be serving. Experience Missions partners with local support organizations like Union Gospel Mission downtown. We will be serving the homeless, the hungry, and the forgotten of Seattle where more than 8,000 people sleep on the streets every night.

We are turning to you, our faithful blog family for support as we go. We hope that you know how much we value your prayers for our life in general, and we would be honored to have you partner with us as we head to Seattle and serve there this summer. We are asking you to consider joining with us in praying for the people of Seattle, praying for our team, and praying for the work that we will be doing.

Some specific things you could pray for until June 27th, and then especially during the week of June27th-July 2nd are:
Unity for the team: Daniel, Kirsten, Dave, Rod, Amanda, Tyson, Chelsea, Taylor, Haley, Emma, Kendal, Abby, Jessi, Bethany, Paige, Delanie.
Safety for the team.
That we would be impacted and changed by what we see and experience, and that our hearts would be broken for the homeless, hurting and hungry.
That we would be used to touch the lives of those God would put us in contact with—to offer encouragement, support, prayer, love and hope in addition to providing for physical needs.

We are also asking you to prayerfully consider supporting Kirsten and I financially. As with any mission trip we are responsible for raising the money it takes to cover the cost of the trip. Our team is doing some group fundraising, but each of us is raising money on our own as well.

The cost of the trip is $325 per person, with a goal to raise at least $150 with individual fundraising and cover the rest with group fundraising. This means that for both of us, we need to raise at least $300.

If you have supported us in the past, or others for mission efforts, you probably know that this amount is actually very low. Needing to raise $300 for two people for a mission trip is meager. So our hope in this is that this will provide an opportunity for many of you to partner with us in this experience at a small "cost" to you—that many $10 or $20 donations would cover the cost and allow us to all partner together collectively.

And of course we'll report our experiences right here on the blog and be able to share it with you!!

Make all checks out to Columbia Ridge and write "Daniel and Kirsten, Seattle" in the memo line.
